• Qualified and admitted Arab Lawyer, studied Arab and Islamic law in Baghdad Iraq and awarded Bachelor degree in law in 1968. Awarded a degree of Master of law from London in 1986.

• Admitted to the Iraqi Law Society in 1969 and practised as in-house Counsel to the Iraq National Oil Company.

• Admitted to the Iraqi Bar in 1974 to practice from own chambers.

• For four years (until 1980) also practised law in Abu Dhabi, UAE. For the last twenty five years practising as legal consultant in England by establishing the "Arab Lawyers Network" a network of practising lawyers which spans the Arab World.

• Appeared as expert before the High Court of Justice in England and was accepted by the Queens Bench and the Chancery Division.

• Author of the annual survey of Iraq in the "Yearbook of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law".

• President of the Arab Lawyers Association in the United Kingdom.
